Like many a young fantasy reader of the 1980s he grew up as a role-player, a hobby he continues to enjoy, although these days if he’s bent over a table with dice he’s more apt to be playing a tactical war game. He graduated college with a degree in radio-TV-film and holds a master’s degree in liberal studies. He has been a practitioner of Shotokan karate since his early 30s and has earned a third degree black belt.
