Writer and editor Kelly Ferguson has worked in the publishing industry for two decades. In the name of work, she’s shot a blowgun (albeit badly), shared her home office with a life-sized cardboard cutout of her boss’s late husband, and taken an RV tour of Washington, D.C., with a now disgraced Secretary of the Interior. Since establishing her freelance career, she has edited books for best-selling authors James Hunter, Aaron Crash, and Gage Lee. One of her projects, Moonshots by billionaire Naveen Jain, was named a Best Book of 2018 by Kirkus Reviews.
Under the name Ginger Kidd, she writes the Gallows Bay Series and, in the process, has watched more minuet dance instructional videos on YouTube than she knew existed.
As Kelly McKerras, she wrote the first and (as far as she knows) only romantic comedy set in a deer urine manufacturing facility. While the trope has yet to catch on, she looks forward to the day when she will be widely known as the Queen of Deer Pee Romance.
Ferguson earned her MFA in creative writing from the University of Memphis, where she was awarded the Moss Fellowship and took a photo with a very sweaty Elvis impersonator. Her poetry has appeared in the Beloit Poetry Journal, and her short story “How to Get Over a Pilot” was a finalist for the Glimmer Train Short Story Award for New Writers.
